Brian joined OPIS, now part of Dow Jones Energy, in 2005, working in a variety of sales and marketing roles before moving to a leadership role within the OPIS Retail division in 2011. Over the last 15+ years, Brian has worked to ensure the accuracy and integrity of OPIS retail pricing, margin, market share, and volume data, helping to develop the OPIS retail database into the timeliest, most complete, and most accurate source available. Brian has led the OPIS Retail team in developing OPIS Demand, the industry’s first benchmark for retail gasoline sales performance, as well as the OPIS RetailSuite, a platform of web-based software and analytics tools that provide unprecedented insight into retail fuel market trends.
Today, Brian oversees business strategy, data quality and analytics, client support, product management, and business development for the OPIS Retail division of Dow Jones Energy.
For more than two decades with OPIS, now part of Dow Jones Energy, Denton has covered nearly all markets that OPIS has price discovery for. Denton’s expertise lies in futures, spot, rack and retail markets and the logistics along the entire supply chain from refining assets and the marketing of products to the wholesale terminal and retail outlets.
Denton is often called upon by major media outlets as an expert on the oil and refined
products supply chain and prices. Denton has made appearances on CNN, CNBC and Fox
Business as well as various radio stations and in print media. Denton is a frequent speaker
at industry events with topics ranging from market direction and forecast to how to buy fuels smarter to spot market methodology.
