Shared Ideas That Drive Real Results

James Butler, General Manager, Group Petroleum Services

I was introduced by our company president, though I’m not sure where he first learned about it. Once I joined, it became clear that the industry benchmarking of financial and operational issues was something we’d been missing. The camaraderie and trust that’s developed along the way have been incredibly rewarding, and the open sharing of ideas and resources has benefited everyone involved—I can certainly attest to that!

Can you share a moment that made a lasting impression?

There was a member who was only with us for about a year, but he made a lasting impact. He shared a driver pay platform he had designed for his company, and it immediately caught my attention. I started thinking about how that concept could fit into my own organization. We ended up redesigning our entire pay process using that framework—creating a unique model that’s unlike anything else in our market.

What would you tell someone considering joining?

It’s absolutely worth it if you’re willing to share and learn. The more you contribute, the more you gain—and the relationships and ideas you take away will keep paying dividends long after each meeting ends.

The camaraderie, trust, and open sharing of ideas have been invaluable. One idea from a fellow member completely transformed how we pay our drivers.
