As Study Groups continues its celebration of 40 years in business, the company is turning the spotlight toward its members with the launch of “40 Years, 40 Stories,” a campaign honoring the business leaders, peer groups, and moments that have defined its journey.
Founded in 1985 by Dr. David Nelson, Study Groups has brought together non-competing executives from across North America to learn from each other, benchmark financials, and build lasting friendships. With an average member tenure of over a decade, many participants have grown with the company, passing the torch from one generation to the next.
“Study Groups has always been about more than business,” said Tressa Throgmorton, Director of Business Development. “It’s about trust, connection, and shared experience. These 40 stories capture the heart of who we are—our members.”
This anniversary also marks a leadership transition: Dr. Nelson, who has guided the organization from day one, now serves as Chairman of the Board. His legacy continues to shape the next chapter of Study Groups, with Dr. Jed Brewer recently appointed CEO and Ben Scellick named President.
“Our groups have stood the test of time because they’re built on trust,” said Dr. Nelson. “I’m deeply proud of what we’ve created and I’m excited to see how it grows from here.”
From multi-generational family businesses to game-changing strategy breakthroughs, the “40 Stories” collection highlights what happens when smart people come together with a willingness to share.
The full collection will roll out throughout the fall on Study Groups’ website and social channels. Members and alumni are encouraged to contribute their own stories at [StudyGroups.com/40stories] or call (732) 898-2301 to leave your story.
“Our group members have been there for each other through expansions, recessions, leadership transitions—and life,” said Jed Brewer, recently appointed CEO. “These stories remind us of what we’re really celebrating: a network of people committed to making each other better.”
